Turtles (so named because of their cute turtle shape) are delicious. You can buy a box of them for about $20. Or, you can make them yourself for WAY less without much effort at all. Today I used up the remainder of a bag of caramels, and only had pecan pieces (which I just made little piles of and put the caramel on top) so this batch does not totally look like turtles…but you get the idea.

1 cup pecan halves
36 individually wrapped caramels, unwrapped
1/2 cup semisweet or milk chocolate chips
Directions
- Preheat oven to 325°. Grease baking sheets.
- Place three pecan halves in a Y shape on cookie sheet and place caramel in center. Repeat with remaining nuts and caramels.
- Place in preheated oven 6-8 minutes, until caramel is softened. Using a buttered spatula, smoosh (technical term) the caramel into the pecans.
- Melt chocolate chips in microwave, or in a small saucepan over low heat; stir until smooth. Spoon over candies on sheets (or drizzle chocolate over the top). Chill 8 hours or overnight, until firm.
Your turtles look great, variations to recipes are always a good thing.
Your turtles look great. But that recipe sounds very very sweet. My scales will get angry, if I dare to eat something alike.
