For almost a year my YMCA has been remodeling. In just a few short weeks it will be complete and I'll have a gorgeous pool, (eww) hot tub, larger fitness/weight room with treadmills that have TVs attached, more spacious yoga room, additional parking stalls and revamped child watch area. I'm looking forward with great anticipation… Continue reading The Mean Old Man and the Cool Old Lady
“Nope, they’re still broken…”
Back in September, I decided to become a runner. I've always watched the skinny girls at the Y running on the treadmill and wanted to join them, but never had the guts. Mostly, I was sure I would be "that person" who biffed it big time while attempting to pick up speed. I had horrible… Continue reading “Nope, they’re still broken…”
You Can’t Handle the Truth!
I've realized recently that not everyone shares my "honesty is best" policy. The hardest relationships I have are the ones I'm not quite sure are exactly what they seem. Why is it some people seem unable to just be themselves? Many relationships in my life are somewhat volatile. Not that we fight constantly, yell and… Continue reading You Can’t Handle the Truth!
Netbook Equals More Blogging
Fantastic! Got a netbook from Santa today and I have high hopes that the new (adorable) pink computer will equate to many more blogs in the future. Part of my problem recently is that playing with my kiddos requires my presence in the playroom - which is a full floor away from the computer. Not… Continue reading Netbook Equals More Blogging
Pumpkin Cheesecake
I make this cheesecake every year at Thanksgiving. Actually, I think I might be un-invited to Thanksgiving if I didn't bring this. It is a perfectly spiced, creamy filling surrounded by delicious graham cracker crust and the sour cream topping just puts it over the top. Pumpkin Cheesecake 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs 1/3… Continue reading Pumpkin Cheesecake
Disneyland Prep
In about 37 hours I will be boarding a plane bound for the happiest place on earth. I am totally excited. Actually, excited doesn't even begin to cover it. As a stay-at-home mommy, my world is my kids. Making sure they are fed, clothed and happy is pretty much all I do every day. They… Continue reading Disneyland Prep
Running the Costco Marathon
I ran the Costco marathon today. I made excellent time. The track is three times from the far wall to the bathrooms at the front of the store. I can run it in about a minute and a half. Too bad it isn't a real event. I went to Costco to return a sweatshirt and… Continue reading Running the Costco Marathon
Lock your doors!
Buuzzzz! Buuzzzzz! Buuzzzzz! At 4 o'clock this morning, I was awakened from my dreams to the sound of my alarm. It took me a few minutes to recall why on earth I was waking up at such an ungodly hour. As I blinked bleary eyed at the green numbers switching to 4:01 I remembered -… Continue reading Lock your doors!
Child’s pose
I've recently started doing yoga at my YMCA. I don't claim to be good at it. I'm not even sure I'm doing half the poses correctly. Most of the time I feel like the most uncoordinated person in the room. However, it makes me feel very relaxed despite the fact that I'm dripping sweat the… Continue reading Child’s pose
Not worth a “trophy”
Recently I heard about a "fabulous" local cupcake shop called Trophy Cupcakes. They have two locations and are opening a third. Within just a few days I heard from several friends that this was THE place to get an absolutely amazing cupcake. So, I was thrilled when one of my girlfriends brought a variety of… Continue reading Not worth a “trophy”
